ObjectiveBy understanding practice nurses status of career adaptability, locus of control and vocational selection anxiety,we explore the correlation between these three variables.Meanwhile,we introduce locus of control variables from the science aspect of cognitive information processing theory, then investigate on mediating effect of locus of control between career adaptability to vocational selection anxiety of practice nurses. These studies have theoretical significance to enrich career psychology, may also provide a frame of reference for the practice nurses to improve career adaptability, reduce vocational selection anxiety and promote physical and mental development.MethodsA convenience sampling was conducted in October to Novermber 2015.Totally 448 practice nurses from five Tertiary A hosptals in Liaoning(The First Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical University,The Third Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical University,Jinzhou Central Hospital,The People's Hospital of Liaoning Province,Chaoyang Central Hospital)were selected and surveyed by self-administered anonymous questionnaire.Self-made practice nurses in general questionnaire,Career Adaptability Scale,Locus of Control Scale and Vocational Selection Anxiety Questionnaire were used to measure demographic data of practice nurses with career adaptability, locus of control and vocational selection anxiety. After collecting all the questionnaires, using SPSS20.0 double data entry to establish a database.T-test and analysis of variance were used to compare the impact of demographic data on career adaptability, locus of control and vocational selection anxiety, while Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation among career adaptability, internality, chance, powerful others, and vocational selection anxiety.Process Bootstrap was used to analyze the mediating effects of locus of control.ResultsCareer Adaptability Scale,Locus of Control Scale and Vocational Selection Anxiety Questionnaire all have good reliability, the results of the study is highly credible. Some significant differences are found in demographic variables in research varivables. There was an significant difference in career adaptability(P=0.026)among practice nurses with different sex. There were significant differences in career adaptability(P=0.002),in internality(P=0.029),in vocational selection anxiety(P=0.010)among practice nurses with different background. There were significant differences in career adaptability(P=0.011),in internality(P=0.012)among practice nurses with different non-only child factors. There were significant differences in career adaptability(P=0.008),in internality(P=0.012),in vocational selection anxiety(P=0.040)among different practice nurses with different part-time experience. There were significant differences in career adaptability(P=0.020),in vocational selection anxiety(P=0.042)among different practice nurses with different inhabitant of family. There were significant differences in career adaptability(P=0.027),in vocational selection anxiety(P=0.034)among different practice nurses grouping by different class cadres.Career adaptability was negatively correlated with vocational selection anxiety(r=-0.44,P<0.01),chance and powerful others(r=-0.21,-0.21,P<0.01).career was positively correlated with internality(r=0.38,P<0.01).Chance and powerful others were positively correlated with vocational selection anxiety(r=0.45,0.44,P<0.01).The total effect from career adaptability to vocational selection anxiety was(?=-0.466,LLCI=-0.559,ULCI=-0.374);the direct effect from career adaptability to vocational selection anxiety was(?=-0.371,LLCI=-0.467,ULCI=-0.275);the total indirect effect from adaptability to vocational selection anxiety was(?=-0.095,LLCI=-0.175,ULCI=-0.032).the indirect effect via chance was(?=-0.050LLCI=-0.097,ULCI=-0.018);the indirect effect via powerful others was(?=-0.047LLCI=-0.084,ULCI=-0.021),the indirct effect via internality was(?=0.002,LLCI=-0.040,ULCI=0.040);Chance and powerful others were partial mediators between career adaptability and vocational selection anxiety.ConclusionsDemographic data had significant effects on some of our study variables. It is found that there are partly correlations among career adaptability, locus of control and vocational selection anxiety among practice nurses.Career adaptability and locus of control cloud influence the vocational selection anxiety.Chance and powerful others played a role of part-mediating variable in the relationship of career adaptability and vocational selection anxiety...
