Geometry curriculum is an important part of mathematics curriculum system; it is theabstract reflection of the external things and the vivid expression of the real life. In addition, itis also an important tool for people to recognize and describe the space of life andcommunicate with each other better. Geometry teaching in the primary school is the main wayto develop the students cognition of space and also the foundation for the further learning. With the development of the society, it is required to cultivate the innovative talents who canadapt to the development of modernization. In the geometry teaching of primary school, thefocus is on the cultivation of the abstract spatial imagination. Furthermore, as the basis of theabstract spatial imagination, the cognition of the space is the main learning content ofgeometry teaching course in the primary period, even in the compulsory stage. And graphicstransformation is the important recourses to cultivate the students’ visual and spatial geometry, reasoning and ability. The aim of the thesis is to investigate the situations of the students inlearning the "graphics transform" items. Also, by means of analyzing the data, it givessuggestions for the mathematic teaching in primary school. In addition, it aims at makingsome contribution to the development of the students cognition of the space in primaryschool. The thesis is based on the mathematics teaching syllabus, education and mathematicsteaching theory, take the requirement of “mathematics curriculum standard” as the standard tomeasure, the author chose the pupils as the subjects from Chang Chun. The methodologiesused in the thesis are literature method, questionnaire and interviews of the top teachers. Theauthor has made some research in the aspects of the knowledge (including spelling group, translation, rotation, symmetry, etc.) which the students should master and the formativeconceptions (including geometry, spatial ability, spatial reasoning, etc.). It is concluded theexisting problems in the space transformation for the pupils through investigation and analysis;also, some suggestions should be put forward. The findings are shown in the following part through investigation:1.Most of the subjects cared little about the recognition and cognition of the geometricfigures; the elements they have considered are not enough. But for the graphic translation, they have mastered better. In the aspects of learning the graphics rotation, symmetry, especially the ability of graphical spelling, they need to make progress.2.Age has an impact on the development of the students spatial abilities. With thegrowing of the age, the ability has shown a trend of rising. The changes of students in Grade5and Grade6are not so clear, as about the changes in the following years, it need to doresearch later.3.It is concluded that gender has not so much impact on the development of spatialability.Meanwhile, the author has interviewed some top teachers in the school, it is summarizedin the following points:1.the methods to cultivate the students spatial conceptions are various; furthermore, theconnection between the knowledge and life should be strengthened.2.in order to cultivate the students’ spatial conceptions, the student’s thinkingcharacteristics should be learned and analyzed, and the law of students cognitivedevelopment need to be complied with; also, the cognitive structure should be learned.3.the teachers need to analyze the teaching materials carefully; also they need to explore and organize the knowledge of the recourses seriously.4.the multimedia technology has played an important role in the geometry teaching.
