It has been9years (and currently a continued and practiced system) since th eJapanese National Universities underwent partial privatization which started inApril of2004. The Japanese Government’s published Japanese NationalUniversity Corporation’s Interim Report have included post-privatizationdifficulties as well as its efficiencies. In comparing the pre and post-privatizationof the national universities, it can be argued whether the partial privatization of thenational universities movement is good or bad. Due to the significant impact ofthis phenomenon towards the Japanese society as well as its economy, analysisusing both educational sociology and educational economics perspectives arenecessary, hence, the study have utilized these perspectives in pursuing this topic.The study raises questions such as what are the economic implications ofcorporatism? and what are the societal impacts of corporatism? etc. Theindustrial and academic alliance is also perceived as very important. Privateenterprises becoming national university corporations is particularly a veryimportant activity because combining the local and national universities creates anindispensable new operational funds. The research results show that universitydevelopment is also achieved along with its regional developments, henceforth, thestudy have conducted an approach in exploring the university developments inrelation to their regional developments. This paper have collected specific datapertaining to the collaborative projects between universities and private enterprises,especially the great influence of the imperial universities in Japan. These gathereddata were used as the markers of the pre and post corporatism in Japan and weresubjected to further analysis resulting to the changes it brought to the country.Moreover, after the creation of National University Corporations, it produceda significant reference towards the implemented and developed tests and lessonsraising the question: do these tests and lessons, with regards to other country’seducational reforms, have significant merits worth citing for? The tests andlessons implemented by the creation of National University Corporations providedthe researcher’s main curiosity as well as his perception of them as beneficial. Forinstance, the Chinese society and economy have developed rapidly, in the future,will it face a situation similar to Japan’s? Will the Chinese university reformsinvolve corporatism’s specific problems? Etc. Hence, the researcher have raisedideas pointing out from studying the Japanese National University Corpor ation andits socio-economic impacts. The researcher also believed raising these ideas is notonly significant but also inevitable.
