In the21st century,the leisure process formed at different levels hasbecome a novel world-wile tend in different countries and regions.Leisure is being "the main theme of our times." It is not difficult to findthat leisure has changed the way in people’slife. Leisure time increaseswith raising social productivity level and decreasing working time. Andthe utilization leisure time has caused extensive attention. At present,thedomestic investigations of leisure time are most for a single developedarea,but lack of the compare between different cities. Two representativecities,Macau and Chengdu,were selected as survey places in this study.The use patterns of leisure time,the influence factors of leisure timedistribution and leisure inclination of residents were surveyed to analysisthe social attributes of the residents. Additionally,the time value fordifferent activities were calculated using the maximization of utilitymodel. The study results show that the leisure time of residents in Macaois more than in Chengdu. It seems that the use patterns of leisure time arediversified for both cities. The residents of both cities involve to leisureactivities,which may improve themselves and reflect their own values.Macao residents are willing to spend more time and money involved insocial work and community activities,but Chengdu residents are willingto participate in more social activities. The intrinsic factors of themselves and the external factors influence the improvement of leisure quality.Therefore,the Government and relevant departments should increaseleisure facilities,advance the quality of recreational products,increase theresidents welfare and induct residents to use their leisure timescientifically,effectively and reasonably.
