Leisure time education came into existence as people had more and more leisure time in the life. From the 1920s, public attention has gradually been paid to leisure time and leisure time education. Based on the theory of edu- cational sociology, this thesis applies the regional subject ?matter method in comparative, education to make a tentative analysis on American leisure, America抯 leisure time education research, the present state of leisure time education and its significance to benefit us. The preface states the present condition of leisure time in our country and the achievements obtained in re- search of leisure time education, The intention of the thesis is illustrated through the brief analysis to the successful experiences of Amerincan leisure time education. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part deals with the definitions of leisure time and leisure time education, makes a detailed description on the features, values and meanings of leisure time education. The second part presents the developments of leisure time education in America. The third part introduces the present state of leisure time education in America. In the last part, suggestions are put forward concerning the set- ting up of Leisure time education in China according to the reality of our country and experiences in America.
