Study On The Coupling Mechanism Between The Urban Social Space And Ecological Facilities Space

Urban space is one of the themes of human geography research. Traditionalresearch of urban space focused on the discussion of evolution theory of urban spacefrom singular angle of economy or society, but it is difficult for this kind of researchto conduct a comprehensive analysis of the complex mechanisms of reconstructingthe current urban spatial system. This paper argues that the study of urban space forour country should try to single out the importance of physical space or social spaceresearch, and turn to a combination research of both perspectives, so as to establish anew urban space research of physical and social integration. Therefore, this paper,taking Xi’an as a study case, attempts make a breakthrough study on the theoreticalbasis of urban spatial research from the coupling relationship between urban socialspace and ecological facilities space.China’s economy has been growing rapidly after the Open-up and Reform Policy,but the rapid growth of economy has also brought up various social issues that causeconstant reconstruction of the spatial system. Thus the new urban spaces emerge.Along the economy growth, the urban development undergoes the economy start-upstage, the take-off stage and the age of mass consumption, and the main challenge ofthe city accordingly goes from physical space to economic space, and to social space.Social issues have been intensified and amplified during this process, and themismatch between the ecological facilities space and social space has become moreand more prominent, which also caused problems of inequality and distribution ofurban resources, server challenges of urban public interest and public service,fragmentation of urban social space, and socio-spatial marginalization of low incomeurban groups. This paper discusses the mechanism of interaction of urban physicalspace and social space by reviewing the coupling relation between the social spaceand ecological facilities space, and promotes the orderly coupling of the two, seekingto achieve the equitable development of the urban society. Therefore, this study starts from the construction of the value of social justice ofthe urban space, applies the universal behavioral tendency of neo-humanism,constructs the time-space planning idea by combining contemporary socialdevelopment trend, and discusses the construction of urban social life space under theconcept of justice. This first part of this study reviews theories and research methodson the spatial differentiation of urban residence, socio-spatial structure and urbaneco-facilities space. The second part, based on the analysis of dynamic evolution ofthe urban social space and ecological facilities space, analyses the relevance of thetwo spaces via RS and GIS and with the support of urban geography, urban socialgeography and landscape ecology, studies the coupling mechanism of urban socialspace and ecological facilities space and the construction of urban social life spaceunder the concept of justice. The last part of the thesis looks into the first-hand dataand information on the change of land use, social residential area and ecological spaceobtained from questionnaires, draws conclusion and provides the author’s outlook.
