A textbook as an educational tool and educational materials, it is an important part of thecurriculum, and it is also the main carrier of curriculum implementation, plays an important role inthe whole education system. With the deepening of the new round of curriculum reform, it can helpus to reflect on the achievements and inadequacies in the mathematics curriculum reform in China,by the new understanding of the compilation of textbooks and research. China and Singapore areboth of Asian country; they are having a lot of similarities in culture and education. Therefore, thisstudy selected textbook, which can on behalf of their level of elementary school mathematics——PEP textbook in China and the Shaping Maths edition textbook of Singapore as a comparison.this study attempts to analyze primary school mathematics textbook by comparing "Number andCalculate"between Chinese and Singapore, to finding the characteristics of each written, andabsorbing the advantages with each other, which can provide some useful experience for theimprovement and development of bilateral Primary Mathematics textbook in China andSingapore. The main research ways of this study are documentary, comparative method and contentanalysis to comparative studying the content of two country’s textbook. Firstly, comparing theoverall goal of the mathematics courses between the two countries, to understanding the conceptsand the basic idea of textbook compilation in macroscopic. Then, make a comprehensivecomparison with the structure of the overall content of the PEP and Shaping Maths textbook about"Number and Calculate" distribution, writing style, content presentation mode and sampleexercises dimension and combined with the four specific sections of the content of "the numberand calculate", draw some basic conclusions. By compare the courses target of elementary schoolmathematics textbook about " Number and Calculate "between the two countries, we find that:The requirements of Singapore Primary Mathematics syllabus about "Number and calculate”is attaching importance to mathematical thinking and the process of the operation. In grade divisionof knowledge, Singapore textbook emphasize on the relation and convergence of the various parts, content characteristics of spiral arrangement, and the slope is small, they focus on training studentto found and summarize. In the way of content presentation, Singapore Shaping Maths textbookfollowed constructivism stressed that learning is the process of constructing knowledge. To do this, students can integrate learned knowledge with learning knowledge. In the examples and exercisessetting, Singapore Shaping Maths textbook examples of situational are relation to the object about"Number".This kind of situational has a stronger Number Sense. Our mathematics curriculum standards are more important to the character and the basicconcept of "Number". That the four specific sections of the content of "Number and Calculate" inthe PEP textbook have a clear gradation and an apparent chapter, it’s more convenient for studentsto learn of the various parts of the knowledge. The presentation of the PEP textbook wants studentto discover the knowledge from the problem situations. This way of presentation is benefit forstudents to learn relevant knowledge, and it is more directional and explicit. The PEP textbookexamples of situations linked closely to daily life, the way of present is also direct. In the exercisessetting, the PEP textbook level, quantity or type are more than Singapore textbook, from the viewof the consolidation mathematical knowledge, it is more benefit for the students to master andconsolidate the knowledge of mathematics.
