Thenhow to carry out mass sports activities and continuously meet people’s growing demand forphysical fitness have become the important work for single event sports association in Shenyang.By adopting some methods of literature, questionnaires, interviews with experts andmathematical statistics, this paper gives a research and analysis of single event sports associationin Shenyang on several influencing factors: operating mode、institutions、staffing、activitiesfunding as well as activities organizations, etc. And this paper has some conclusions, as follows.Firstly, single event sports association is government-led initiative and is non-profit civil societyregistered in Civil Affairs. Secondly, most positions in the association are mostly taken up bygovernment leaders or retired leaders and most of them are part-timers. A majority of membersare retirees and old wealthy man. Thirdly, single event sports association in Shenyang has asingle fund source and is very weak in self-survival and development. Fourthly, single eventsports association in Shenyang is very arbitrary in holding activities and the scale and continuityof the system are not formed. This paper also gives recommendations for the problems.Firstly,government should devolve management rights and single event sports association shouldachieve entity development under help of enterprises and institutions and be operated byprofessionals. Secondly, single event sports association should increase training guidance,services, activities to attract more young people to join. Thirdly, government support, corporatesponsorship, membership and other diversified sources of funding should be established toenhance associations’ function and ensure the healthy development of the association. Fourthly,establishing systems for holding regular competitions like league matches、grand prix andchampionship to expand the association’s publicity、rally public and build exchange platformwith competition. This paper also has established the ideal model for the development of singleevent sports association which lay the theoretical foundation for the substantive reform of singleevent sports association in Shenyang.
