Objective: The paper is written to understand the daily energy changes, the correlation betweenphysical fitness and body composition for the students in our university who are overweight orunderweight. Reasonable scheme is proposed to make weight control in a certain range and tokeep the fat and the muscle in suitable proportion so as to reduce disease risks associated withobesity and thereby improve health and the quality of life.Research methods: This paper selects40healthy freshmen in our university whose majors arenon-professional sports as the research object. The measurement of body composition analyzer isused to measure body component and accelerometer is applied to measure daily activity andrecord the amount of diet within7days at school. Meanwhile power bicycle is also used tomeasure the maximal oxygen uptake and portable human body measurement system is chosen totest students’ physical quality. All this is done to explore the daily energy changes as well as therelationship between physical fitness and body composition. Data is processed by SPSS17.0andgiven a mean comparison, while the results of daily energy changes, physical fitness and bodycomposition are analyzed by variance and T test.Results:1. The fat content of overweight students is higher than relatively thin students, whilethe percentage of muscle and weight of overweight students is lower than underweight students.2. The daily intake of energy for the overweight students is more than that of the underweight butwith a less energy consumption through physical activity.3. The maximal oxygen uptake foroverweight students is poor compared with the thin students’.Research conclusions: Among daily energy intake, daily physical activity and the relative valueof maximal oxygen uptake, relative value of maximal oxygen uptake has the greatest impact onthe fat content; daily energy intake has the biggest effect on muscle content.Recommendation: Students should form a good diet and exercise habit. They should make gooduse of school sports facilities, select appropriate physical exercises and make effective exerciseplans. It will be significant for them to keep weight control through adjusting the structure of diet, actively participating in physical exercise and maintaining good living habits.
