With the constant improvement of social living standard and technology, thedeveloping of society brings about miscellaneous negative effects, of which thepsychological problem is most outstanding. Thus, the psychological problem of highschool students causes extensive concerns from the experts of education circles orsanitary circles from all over the world. In physical education in university, weshould not only attach importance on physical witness of students, but also focus onthe mental health of them. Based on the existing statuses of mental health of highschool students in Urumqi, our study will further discuss how physical educationwill improve and enhance the mental health of high school students and provide ascientific reference to design proper methods for high school students to equipmental health by physical education.Through searching references, making surveys and using mathematicalstatistics, we investigated840students from7high schools by random samplingaiming at getting the information of the physical and psychological states of them.The results are as follows:1.22.4%of high school students in Urumqi take part in physical exercisess lessthan once a week and24.7%of whom twice or three times a week.38.1%of high school students in Urumqi take part in physical exercises once or twice a week,9.2%of whom do three to five times a week and5.6%of whom do more than once per day.These phenomena suggest that the most high school students in Urumqi participate sports once or twice a month, secondly twice or three times a month. Interest towardsphysical exercisess plays an vital role in physical education for boy students whohave more interests than girl students will spend more time, high frequency and highintensity on physical exercisess. Doing physical exercisess is usually handicapped byseveral reasons varying in gender, but a lack of interest and time or having heavypressure are often the main problem.2.Among the high school students in Urumqi who take part in mental health survey,326of whom suffered from mild psychological stress, accounting for41.11%of total number, especially on interpersonal relations, depression and fear;107of whom suffered from heavy psychological stress, accounting for13.52%of total number somzatization, hostile and anxiety. Despite suffering a relatively high Paranoia,students who do physical exercises frequently are much healthier than that whoseldom or never do. Students of different grades, genders, disciplines and ethnicgroup share different mental health levels and the counterpart of urban or ruralstudents have no significant difference.3. An overwhelming majority of high school students suggest that they canalleviate psychological pressure and gain pleasure through physical exercises.Among them, students who are interested in physical exercises are healthier inpsychology than those who aren’t, while who usually take part in physicalexercisesare healthier in psychology than those who do not. The improvement canreach its climax when high school students have physical exercises1-2times aweek, each of which lasts30-60minutes.
