Literary education is an important part of Chinese Language Education, whichconcerns the cultivation and promotion of primary and middle school students’Chinese Literacy. Literary texts in the textbook are the basic supports of LiteraryEducation.“Motif”, as a concept of comparative literature theory, has long been activein the field of literature research. And the study on literary texts from the perspectiveof “Motif”can be seen as a new literary-theory guidance for literary education. This“new” perspective not only shows the prospective application of “motif” theory in theChinese language education research, but also impels us to question our literaryeducation progress in the tenth year of curriculum reform.This paper aims to compare and analyze the literary texts in two versions ofChinese textbooks,focusing on the analysis of “Motif”in selected texts of twoversions of textbooks, and making a classification to compare and analyze thesimilarities and differences between two versions of Chinese textbooks from the viewof literary texts’ s quantity, category, difficulty, genre, theme and values. The authorattempts to explore the compilers’ compiled intention, guiding principles and theircultural background knowledge hidden behind the literary selections of textbooks soas to make a contribution to optimizing literary texts compilation of Chinesetextbooks and improving the quality of our literary education.
