Task-based Language Teaching has attracted lots of attention from abroad and Chinasince it was born. At present, the research on it has turned to its practical use more thantheoretical underpinnings. Many experts and teachers have used it in all aspects of Englishteaching and got good result. Is this method a method that is useful in any situation?The purpose of this Paper is to test the effectiveness of Task-based LanguageTeaching in the reading teaching of Tibetan High Schools. In order to test the effectivenessof Task-based Language Teaching in the reading teaching of Tibetan High School, thepaper carried out Task-based reading experiments among two contrast Classes in Gradeone in He Zuo senior school, which is a school in Gan Nan Tibetan AutonomousPrefecture in Gan Su province.The result shows that the Class that adopted Task-based reading training hasn’t donebetter than the Class whose reading was taught in traditional way. Here are the reasons.At first, the teacher is not good enough to use the method properly. Secondly, the students’English is too poor to act well in the class. Thirdly, there are too many students in a class.This Paper consists of6chapters. Chapter one is a brief introduction,unfolding thebackground, intention, significance of this study and the organization of this paper.Chapter two is the literature review, going over the development of Task-based LanguageTeaching in abroad and at home,especially its implication in English reading teaching inChina. Chapter three is about the theory of Task-based Language Teaching and readingteaching. Chapter four explores the practical use of Task-based Language Teaching inreading teaching. Chapter five is a relevant experiment and the analysis of it. The lastchapter is the conclusion.
