Sports can be traced back to thousands of years ago, and have become an importantpart in boosting our social progress and culture activities. Due to the development ofmodern technology in cameras, videos, audio, TV, internet etc, more and more peoplecan enjoy the excitement and joy of sports; and the Sports Presentation thereafterappeared in order to let the public appreciate the beautiful nature of sports events.Sports Presentation started a bit late in China compared with some developedcountries. It first hit the public at2008Beijing Olympic Games, and since then peoplebegan to lay some emphases on Sports Presentation.In this paper, theoretical and practical researches are conducted such as the documentanalysis, expert interview, and case study and so on. The Sports Presentation oflarge-scale track and field events is studied; the concept of Sports Presentation isdefined in both generalized and narrow senses; the forms of Sports Presentation areclassified. The functions of Sports Presentation are analyzed by applying the theoriesof Mass Media, sports event management, and sports economics. The current situationof Sports Presentation of large-scale track and field events are studied by the methodsof expert interview, questionnaire survey of audience and statistic analysis; and thefollowing conclusions are drawn:1. the concept of Sports Presentation can be classified by broad sense and narrowsense. From the point of broad sense, it is a cultural activity. From the point of narrowsense, it is to present the sports activities to the effects of stage performance throughsome technical means, like broadcasting, live introducing, music, large screen shows,live group shows and lighting effects etc.2. the element that limits the development of Sports Presentation in sports events isthat quite a few personnel from both sports field and non sports field are lack ofknowledge of Sports Presentation.3. the lack of trained personnel for Sports Presentation, therefore it gives rise to thelack of attraction to the audience. Suggestions are made in accordance with the present situation of large-scale track&field sports event in China:enhance training in sports presentation,establish track&field sports presentation teams in multi levels,fill up the personnel shortage of sportspresentation; develop sports presentation in forms and contents by holdingcompetitions;improve the sports equipment in order to boost the presentation effectsand the audiences’ enthusiasm,like the discs or javelins with a coat of fluorescence;add some warm up performance before every unit interval of sports stage in order toenrich the sports platform effect of sports presentation so as to attract more and morepeople to watch the sports events.
