Canadian Historical Thinking Project was founded in2006and co-developed bythe Foundation for Historical Research Center and Columbia University History.This project (formerly historical thinking benchmarks) designed to implement thedesign of thinking culture through teaching methods and to foster new ways of thehistory education, changing teachers teaching methods and improving the situation ofthe history learning on students. The core of this project is the six dimensions ofconceptual thinking, constructing out of historical thinking benchmarks anddeveloping of the assessment of the contents and teaching and learning materials ofthe corresponding curriculum instructional design.This paper is using the method of literature research and case studies,whichmade described and analyzed on the development of the project overview aboutcanadian historical thinking, historical thinking benchmarks and the teaching ofhistorical thinking benchmark in the history.aim to prove that historical thinkingculture is unique, hoping to provide a reference for the teaching of history HistoricalThinking Training School in China.The paper includes four parts. The first part is the introduction, describes theorigin of the study, current research and research methods. The second chapterstudies the core of the Canadian Historical Thinking Project, the main source ofresearch and development of theoretical thinking in Canadian history, and to analyzehistorical thinking benchmarks. The third chapter in the history of the study ofhistory thinking benchmarks in the use of instructional design. The fourth chaptersummarizes the characteristics of the Canadian Historical Thinking Project andEnlightenment.The analysis of the characteristics on Canadian Historical Thinking Project are:1.Six historical thinking concepts,which helps students master the discipline ofhistorical research historical perspective of thinking, so that students learn to use ahistorical perspective to explore these concepts, and gradually form a historicalthinking skills.2.Historical Thinking Project Development teaching activities andlearning materials are based on historical source to focus on specific methods to trainstudents to collect, select, understand and interpret historical grasp of the evidence inorder to develop students awareness, critical thinking and creative thinking andself-learning ability.3.History-based learning in group activities help studentscollaborate more communication skills, conflict resolution ability, to participate indecision-making capacity, improve qualification citizens. Select the history of the conflict, multicultural and international exchange of teaching content, but also helpstudents fairness, justice and social responsibility awareness has greatly expandedtheir horizons. Promote with critical thinking, broad vision, training citizens toparticipate actively in the democratic debate, aims to develop the students’ awareness,critical thinking and creative thinking.These are able to provide a reference for the training of secondary historicalthinking, for our historical thinking standards, teaching the history of design thinking,historical thinking teaching mode and content selection, improved teaching methodsare historical thinking provided substantive reference.
