In recent years, various important national conferences, policies, and documents on education have emphasized the importance of cultivating innovative talents, and it has become a trend that creativity,as a necessary competency for cultivating innovative talents, has penetrated education and teaching at the basic education level.Combining robotics and education can provide students with a variety of interdisciplinary learning experiences,an integrated approach to learning,problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, thus stimulating students’ creativity, and serving as a bridge between students and Artificial Intelligence. There is no doubt that Robotics Education is an effective tool for fostering students’ creativity. The development of creativity in middle school is an important period in the development of students’ creative thinking, and the development of creativity needs to be guided by real problems and a free and open environment. Therefore, this study integrates Design Thinking into Robotics Education, grasps the synergy between Design Thinking and Robotics Education for creativity development, and builds a framework for teaching middle school robotics activities that incorporate Design Thinking, and applies the framework to develop case studies for use in teaching practice to enhance students’ creativity. The purpose is to enhance students’ creativity. In this study,we used the core process of the Design Thinking EDIPT model as the core framework for middle school robotics teaching activities and developed a unique teaching activity case using the framework. The framework for teaching robotics activities incorporating Design Thinking was optimized in three iterations to arrive at a final and refined framework. The effectiveness of the framework was examined by comparing the changes in students’ creativity levels before and after practice, and by combining work evaluation analysis and teacher-student interviews. The study showed that the framework for teaching middle school robotics activities incorporating Design Thinking was effective in enhancing students’ creativity. At the same time, the framework can be applied to the corresponding teaching activities to develop students’ comprehensive qualities such as independent learning ability, problem solving ability, and teamwork ability, and promote students’ overall development.Under this teaching paradigm, students have a strong interest in learning and a high level of classroom participation and satisfaction. In addition to the acquisition of knowledge and skills, students learn how to think and analyze problems, use Design Thinking methods and tools to solve problems, and work in teams. In conclusion, the Design Thinking approach to middle school robotics helps to improve students’ overall literacy and lay the foundation for them to become the innovative talents needed by the nation and the times.
