“Biology is one of the basic subjects in natural science, a subject of researchingthe biological phenomena and the activity rules of life.” Concept map is a useful toolfor conceptual teaching, which plays a very important role in the teaching of highschool biology. Concept map is a foreign term and teaching method. The effect is notclear in our country, whether it is suitable for high school teaching in China needsfurther study.Therefore, it is of great significance to implement the investigation onthe application status of Concept map.The understanding of cognition, utilization and confession condition of Conceptmap was studied by questionnaire method according to the survey on high schoolteachers and students; conclusions of the problems exist in high school teaching ofConcept map were made based on the results of questionnaire; correspondingsuggestions to these problems were provided, aimed at giving some theory guides onthe application of Concept map in high school teaching.The results indicate that:1) teachers of high school were acquainted withConcept map to some extent but not enough;2) teachers utilized Concept map a little,but they were willing to know about it and agreed that teaching by Concept map canbe effective.3) Regarding the students of high school, they neither knew about andutilized Concept map a lot, nor had interests of it, but most of them admitted that itcould help them with their study. This suggests that the Concept map teaching methodis effective in high school biology teaching in China, and worth promoting.Meanwhile, it gives answer to the argument on whether Concept map is effective andprovides basis for promotion.
