The thesis aims to test the hypothesis that in junior English listening teaching Task-based Approach is superior to the traditional teaching model. The author carried out an experiment to test whether students’interest in learning English can be increased and their English listening abilities can be improved by Task-based Approach.To test this hypothesis, the author chose seventy-two students from two classes of Grade One of her junior middle school (Nancang Middle School of Beichen Suburb) to take part in the experiment. One is the experimental class using Task-based Approach in listening, while the other is the control class using the traditional teaching approach in listening. There were no differences in their listening ability before the experiment. The author teaches English in both the experimental class and the control class so that the results of the experiment would be reliable. In order to make the experiment more convincing and effective, two questionnaires and two tests (before and after the experiment) were implemented in this experiment.The analysis of the experimental results shows that this model can create a good learning atmosphere, fully mobilize students’learning initiative and enthusiasm and stimulate students’interest in English study, so as to improve students’listening level.
