With the development and advance of society, more and more people need to learn English and use English. Thus, learning English in senior high school becomes more and more important. Because learning English well not only make them have a high mark in College Entrance Examination, but also have an important effect when they come into society. But some students have a poor English basis, or they were influenced by their family or bad habits in society. They lost interest in English, and then the English low achievers came into being. The English low achievers become more and more. So it is important for us English teachers to analyze the causes of English low achievers. And also it is important to find some useful countermeasures.In our ordinary high school, it is obvious there are many English low achievers. So the author does some experiments, questionnaires and tests. The author does research on the cause of English low achievers and take some measures to improve their English marks. The author makes her two classes30low achievers as her research target and does the experiments. Through the author’s study, the reason for English low achievers may come from their families, their teachers, their learning environment and learning approaches. Then the author conducts a series of tests and class observation, she find collaborative learning and different evaluation can arouse students’ interest and strengthen their confidence. At last, students have an obvious improvement in English marks.The author hopes her research can be helpful to my future teaching. Let students have more interest in English and make a high mark in the future. Besides, the author hopes her research can enlighten more English teachers.
