The problem of students with English learning difficulties has been one of the major concerns in the educational field.The study of this problem is of great practical significance,which can not only improve the efficiency of English teaching but also help the students with English learning difficulties get out of the predicament of learning.Senior grade of primary school is a crucial stage in the development of students.With the increase of academic content and difficulty,senior students' English learning habits,learning attitude,learning strategies are in the shaping stage.The students in this stage may have distinct features.Therefore,it is significant to focus on the senior students in primary school with English learning difficulties.This paper is divided into four parts: Part one clarifies the concept of students with English learning difficulties,elaborates the domestic and foreign researches on students with English learning difficulties from three levels,namely,its definition,causes and transformation,which provides a solid theoretical foundation for the paper.Part two expounds the learning characteristics and main types of senior students with English learning difficulties,which is the basis for the study.Part three takes senior students with English learning difficulties,their parents and English teachers in Changshu K School as the research subjects.Meanwhile,a questionnaire and a statistical analysis are conducted among students and their parents in order to obtain the status quo of senior students with English learning difficulties in primary school Furthermore,interviews with English teachers are conducted and the strategies for teachers to transform English underachievers are obtained.Part four puts forward some transformation strategies based on the learning situation of senior students with English learning difficulties in primary school and the interview results from English teachers from the perspectives of teachers,students and parents.This study attempts to provide some suggestions as to the transformation of students with English learning difficulties in the senior grade of primary school.
