With the rapid development of science and technology, our society has set a high demand on senior high middle school. English has been one of most important courses in the curriculums of senior middle school. However, most English teachers in senior middle school are still applying some traditional teaching methods. As we know, traditional teaching method can not arouse students’learning interest and motivation in English classes. In order to change the current situation, a great number of English teachers are exploring new teaching methods. Based on the above problem, the author wants to find out whether the situational teaching method is a good choice to solve the problem.The aim of the research is to find out whether the situational teaching method is suitable for No.l Middle School of Bayannaoer City; whether the situational teaching method can arouse students’desire for English learning and improve the classroom atmosphere so as to help the students get high marks.In order to make the research clear, the author first made a survey by a questionnaire researching students’interest of English learning. The author made a pre-test to test students’ English level in No.1Middle School of Bayannaoer City, where the author worked. Based on the data collected, the author chose two classes in No.l Middle School of Bayannaoer City randomly, one being the experimental class and the other control class to carry out the situational teaching experiments. Analyzing with SPSS, the author found out that the experimental class taught in situational teaching method improved a lot. The average score of the experimental class in the test had a little raise. The research shows that the situational teaching method plays an active part in promoting students’interest in English learning. Therefore, conclusion is reached that the situational teaching method is suitable for the English teaching in No.1Middle School of Bayannaoer City, and it can make English teaching more efficient and effective.
