As a kind of practical knowledge and subject, mathematics has been widelyapplied in many fields and it should be taught consistently in the curriculum ofprimary and middle schools. Therefore, mathematics is becoming a significantresearch subject for International education comparison, which is a hot field ineducational research or study nowadays. Textbooks are of great importance in thefollowing aspects. Firstly, it is the dispensable carrier to carry out curriculum aimsand teaching contents. Secondly, it is an efficient tool to organize learning activitiesfor teachers and students. Besides, it presents a nation’s educational concepts andteaching methods directly. And without exception, the education reforms in andabroad put much emphasis on textbooks. So it can be shown that math textbook is thefocus for International education comparison. The study focuses on a comparison between the Trail Textbook(B) publishedby People’s Education Press under the Ordinary High School Curriculum Standardsand Britain A-level math textbook for senior middle school students. In addition, bydiscussing the contents of Statistics and Probability, the author intends to explore thedifferences and similarities between these books, thereby the reasons. At last, sheproposes several suggestions on the basis of our nation’s facts. The study tries toanswer the following questions:Firstly, there is a contrast between the two textbooks from macro-perspective,such as the distribution and extension of contents, the compiling features, thestructures and systems; the characteristics of Britain textbook in texts, pictures and theformat design, ect. Besides, there is a comparison from micro-scope, such as the styleof presenting knowledge, thinking levels, the examples and exercises, the examinationsyllabus, ect.Secondly,What kind of enlightenment to China’s high school textbook revolutionwill be drawn from the exploration and discussion of the differences? In order to have a primary understanding, the author made an overall descriptionon A-level curriculum by introducing its curriculum types, course system, course combination, test methods, evaluating modes, ect. And then, she carried out the studyfrom the following aspects by Document Analysis, Educational ComparativeResearch, Interviews and Surveys.First of all, the study made a comparison on the Statistics and Probability of thetwo textbooks from macro-perspective, mainly concentrating on text, pictures, paperquality, format design, the distribution of Statistics and Probability contents, structureand system, the examination syllabus, examples and exercises, ect. And on the basisof the above analysis, the author strived to find out their advantages and then putforward some suggestions, which might be useful for Chinese textbook revolutionand development.Next, the author made a comparison on the statistics aspects by analyzing thecurriculum difficulty modes. The comparative analysis is based on a exploration ofdata’s influence on curriculum’s time, extension, level and the comprehensivedifficulty of math questions as well as the relative conclusion with figure tables. In addition, the author compared the contents on Conditional Probability andNormal Distribution between the two textbooks from micro-perspective and finallyshe provided several ideas. The analysis on Conditional Probability comes from thestyle of presenting concepts, the request on Conditional Probability from theexamination syllabus and curriculum standard, the approaches to solving examplesand exercises. And for Normal Distribution, she mainly made some comparativeanalysis on teaching contents, math practices and concepts, and then she made adetailed analysis on teaching contents from these aspects, namely, the teachingarrangements, concrete tasks, leading-in styles and so on.At last, based on the comparative study, the author drew a conclusion and putforward three suggestions from three aspects, which were the compilation oftextbooks, teachings and examination forms. She hopes that the suggestions wouldprovide some help for the China high school math teaching as well as the textbookrevolution and development...
