Based on Rousseau’s thought about people’s alienation and regressionof virtues, the paper systematacially researches on Rousseau’s moraleducation. And the paper further considers that the two aspects areinseparable. In fact,Rousseau’s thought of moral education results fromthe discussion on "whether are or not the Science and the arts contributeto improve custom?" and" On the origin of human inequality andfoundation of the inequality of mankind". Rousseau argues that it hasbrought human alienation and loss of virtue in the progress of humancivilization. And gradually formed its own characteristics moraleducational thought. So we consider Rousseau’s thought of moral educationis based on Rousseau’s thinking on human alienation and moral regression. This paper was divided into three parts:The first part focuses on Rousseau’s thinking on the alienation ofhuman beings, respectively formulating what is natural state, and howdoes modern civilization people separate themselves from natural stateand towards alienation. Furthermore, the paper points out that theincreasingly growth of desire and needs is indulging with no restraint, science and art was also flooded with hypocrisy fashion. On the otherhand, the abusing of rational and unreasonable lifestyle of modern peoplehave aggravated the alienation of modern civilization people, so doesthe above two aspects. Finally alienation of modern civilization peoplealong with constant virtue losses, has been in the call for a new kindof moral redemption, which propels the birth of Rousseau’s moral educationthought. The second part focuses on Rousseau’s thinking on the virtueregression of modern civilization people. Its essence is to elaborateon the meaning of Rousseau’s moral education thought. In the view of Rousseau, the three innate emotions from human such as self-love、compassion and conscience have been provided potential for the regressionof human virtues and basic protection. In addition,Rousseau’s so-calledregression of virtue contains mainly two aspects: the first one is toget rid of various vices, and the second one is to make modern civilizationpeople become virtuous people, which including natural virtuous peopleand moral citizens in the Democratic Republic. Rousseau’s moral educationcontent is goodness, justice, and beauty. Shortly thereafter, the papercontinues to elaborate on the ideas proposed by Rousseau’s two kindsof moral education and training programs, which is "natural person" asthe goal of naturalism moral education, and another is to foster "moralcitizens of the Democratic Republic" as the goal of citizen moraleducation. Although there is a clear distinction between two kinds ofeducation programs, but they have the same aim, which is to rescue themodern civilization people from the abyss of alienation, and restoresthe basic human virtues. The third part focuses on the characteristics, contemporaryenlightenments and ideological limitations of Rousseau’s thought of MoralEducation which is built on the basis of the thinking of human alienationand regression of virtue. Rousseau’s thought of moral education havemany features: natural religious, romanticism, filled with free spiritand so on. The contemporary enlightenments of Rousseau’s thought of MoralEducation have many aspects for us to learn. For example, current Chinamoral civilization construction, moral education or the human educationand development, all can get a lot of inspirations both in theory andpractice. Certainly, Rousseau’s thought of moral education also hastheir limitations. The limitations reflected in its filled with too muchof idealism feature, and cannot achieved great achievement in practice. This epilogue is mainly a shortly overview, which elaborates the status and influence of Rousseau’s thought of people’s alienation andregression of virtues and makes a simple historical evaluation ofRousseau’s thinking on moral education.
