The mission of teachers is to enlighten wisdom and disseminate civilization, and their responsibilities are supposed to proselytize, instruct and dispel doubts. Language, the tool of human communication and carrier of knowledge, is crucial for teachers. So the most important tool for teachers in their daily work is the language of instruction, with which teachers use to impart knowledge, train students’ abilities and develop their intelligence, at the same time to communicate with students, build friendship, and shape beautiful noble souls. There is a brilliant exposition in the ancient Chinese pedagogical work, the Note of Leaning that a good singer will make listeners imitate and follow his song and a good teacher will make students carry on his noble aspiration. His language of instruction must be concise but idiomatic, refined and correct, which can be easily understood with few metaphors. The famous educator of the Soviet Union, Sukhomlinsky once said that the language accomplishment of teachers to a large extent determines students’ mental efficiency and we believe that a vital requirement for a good language accomplishment is to spend the time wisely and reasonably. The examples above have vividly embodied the significance of the teaching language, which is also the research topic of this thesis. Enhancing language proficiency in classroom teaching of Chinese teachers can effectively improve the efficiency and quality of teaching, stimulate students’ thinking and creative abilities, make the relationship between teachers and students more harmonious, provide students with vivid demonstration and develop students’ abilities in many aspects. Thus, researching the teaching language of Chinese teachers is of importance not only for students, teachers and their daily teaching work, but also a necessary requirement for education reform, social and talent development.This thesis has done a certain research on classroom teaching language of Chinese teachers. Chapter one illustrates its features, basic types and usage requirements on basis of the instrumental value and humanism of Chinese discipline. It summarizes the general characteristics of teaching language based on some predecessors’ research results. Chapter two states some existing language problems in classroom teaching of current middle school, such as the loss in effectiveness of demonstration and evaluation, deficiency in validity of classroom dialogues and question, ignorance in students’ personality cultivation and ability development, excessive application of modern education technology which weakens the teaching language, teachers’ abuse of discursive power and so on. After listing the existing problems, this thesis tries to figure out the possible reasons, among which there are backward educational ideas, insufficiency in teachers’ educational wisdom, deficiency in teachers’ pursuit of teaching art, neglect when presetting the classroom language in teaching strategy and impact exerted on daily teaching by network language. Chapter three expounds the significance of classroom teaching language and then proposes some optimizing strategies:raising awareness of the optimization of teaching language, changing the backward teaching concept, accumulating language material, reserving extensive knowledge, analyzing teaching objects, choosing target-oriented teaching language, laying stress on teacher’s mental health and professional ethics, carefully preparing lessons which handles the relations between presupposition and generation, cultivating personal and artistic language and strengthening the teaching capabilities in practice through observing and learning. Some of the strategies are of theoretically guiding and practical significance, which are advantageous in improving teaching language.Cultivating teaching language abilities is never an overnight thing. It is necessary for us to realize the importance of teaching language and master advanced pedagogical theories, but what is more important is that we should make unremitting efforts in practice to enhance our capabilities in teaching language so as to provide students a lively, free and open lesson with rich cultural atmosphere.
