Since one-child police had been carried out, the numbers of only children beganto increase, which causes the widespread concern of people. Based on past research, the public probably possess stereotypes about only children. So College students whoaccept higher education may also have this stereotype, then how are its form andcharacteristic? On this basis, This research selects College students who accept theadjective questionnaire of stereotypes about only children, questionnaire of SEB andeye movement recording. I expect to explore the following aspects:(1) Collegestudents possess the explicit and implicit stereotype about only children;(2) Therelationship between the explicit and implicit stereotype about only children;(3) thefurthermore validation of stereotypes about only children by eye movement recording. At last, I get the conclusions as follows:(1)Among College students, the explicit stereotypes about only childrenincludes:“good material conditions, self-willed, self-centered, dependent, spoiled andbad temper”; Compared with city students, countryside students possess deeperexplicit stereotypes about only children; This kind of stereotypes shows the “ingroupbias and outgroup derogation”on only subjects and subjects with siblings.(2)The implicit stereotypes about only children exist among College students;Compared with city students, countryside students possess deeper implicit stereotypesabout only children; The implicit stereotypes about only children also show the“ingroup bias and outgroup derogation”on only subjects and subjects with siblings.(3)The results between explicit measure and implicit measure don’t correlatesignificantly.(4)This study further validates the existence of stereotypes about only children, itshows that “when the notional word of only-children appear, participants tend tofocus on the words of negative attributes; Moreover, the research also proves the“ingroup bias and outgroup derogation” of the stereotypes of only children.
