With the deepening of quality education today, the inquiry into teachingstrategies as well as the transformation of teaching methods has positivemeaning to raise the enthusiasm of the students and improve the efficiency ofclassroom teaching. It is known that classical Chinese is the principal part inthe Cantonese Version of Chinese Textbook for Senior High school. However,students’ poor performance of learning classical Chinese worries the frontlineteachers, who also face many difficulties. Therefore, how to raise the students’enthusiasm for learning the classical Chinese and improve the efficiency ofteaching classical Chinese has become an urgent problem that calls forimmediate solution.This paper mainly explores the application research of cooperative learningin classical Chinese teaching in senior high school, trying to combine therelated theories of cooperative learning with the actual teaching. Based onthe research on cooperative learning, the thesis scientifically explainsthe basic concept as well as the spirit of cooperative learning, and then theteaching design is created according to the characteristics of the CantoneseVersion of Chinese Textbook for Senior High school, making cooperativelearning applied to the actual teaching of classical Chinese.Methods of literature, experiment and test are mainly adopted in this paper.On the one hand, research on literature has been firstly carried out so as toestablish the solid basis in theory for this theme. On the other hand,experiment on teaching has been made with quasi-experimental researchmethods. The experiment has been conducted in one of the two classes taughtby me, in which method of cooperative learning is adopted, while traditionalteaching methods are used in the other class as a comparison. Finally, testsare run in these two classes and the inquiry into the efficiency of theapplication of cooperative learning in classical Chinese teaching is based onthe results of former test, later test and interviews.The research shows that cooperative learning can effectively improve thestudents’ cooperative skills and the efficiency of classical Chinese teaching.Furthermore, in this study, the teaching design and the classroom teachingmodel are constructed based on the application of cooperative learning inclassical Chinese teaching in senior high school, in the hope of providingpractical and valuable reference for the frontline teachers in classical Chineseteaching.
