Throughout the development of English teaching history in China, grammar teaching has been in the position of the swing. From China founding to the end of the1960s, grammar teaching has been using a grammar-translation method of teaching, and grammar is greatly respected. With the deepening of the study and introduction of foreign advanced teaching philosophy and teaching of grammar, people began to find the drawbacks of grammar translation method, so they gradually began to dilute the grammar teaching, and focus on students’ communication ability. When Ministry of Education2001issued,"full-time compulsory education English curriculum standards (trial version)" clearly stated requirements change too much emphasis on grammar and vocabulary knowledge to explain and teach point of view, grammar teaching has been severely criticized. Especially in the classroom of primary school, teachers began to avoid English grammar teaching, only concerned about the students listening, speaking ability. For a long time in the past, although students’ oral communication ability has improved, but the grammar is weak, students export frequent errors and sentences broken phenomenon is so common. In order to reverse the negative effects brought by ignoring grammar, the Ministry of Education in2011promulgated the "full-time compulsory education curriculum standards in English (2011Edition)", the curriculum reform provides that the primary school stage should teach all two levels of grammatical items clearly listed in the appendix. This reform provides a good basis for primary school English grammar teaching content; teachers can also use this as the key link, and to better grasp the scale of primary school grammar teaching. In this study, starting from the current situation of English Teaching in primary school, three upper elementary English grammar teaching as an example, investigated and analyzed from the two dimensions of teachers and students in primary school classroom grammar teaching, and found several main problems as follows:the lack of understanding of the position of grammar teaching; students learning interest is not high, and they are afraid of difficulties; students participation is not enough, lack of initiative; ignore the role of mother tongue in English grammar teaching; teachers’ inappropriate correction, resulting in students’ frustration. And this study has carried on the analysis the reason for these problems, thinks that grammar is hard to teach and study for five main reasons, namely:understanding of grammar teaching methods is narrow; students’ cognitive level is limited; the teachers themselves lack of theoretical study; the exam-oriented education under the pressure of entering a higher school; difference between Chinese and English. Finally, aiming at the problems relating to the classroom practice, the study puts forward some feasible teaching strategies and recommendations, such as the correct positioning of grammar teaching in primary school teachers; strengthen learning theory; pay attention to students’ affective attitude; using a variety of teaching methods and a variety of evaluation methods, improve the students’ interest, and lists the corresponding teaching cases according to the "Fun with English" textbook. In order to improve the effect of English Teaching in primary school, help students English learning and give English teachers teaching grammar reference and inspirations in primary school.
