With the continuous advance of the new curriculum reform, it is supposed to encourage develop students’four basic language skills------listening, speaking, reading and writing by the way of exploration, practice and cooperation. As a result, the group cooperative learning was put on the agenda. Compare the group cooperative learning with the traditional teaching, it focuses on the students and it’s in the form of group cooperation to enable students to learn together for a common goal, mutual promotion and common progress. Group cooperative learning builds an open language learning environment for students, which provides students the ability to multi-channel access to the language. It fully embodies the educational view of the people-oriented educational.In this paper, we have known the students’English learning motivation of Panzhihua foreign language school by using the method of questionnaire investigation. We make the Class of2003as the object of study. Through analyzing the current situation of our English cooperative learning group and the status of the implementation of cooperative learning strategy, we find out the inadequacy of existence in group cooperation learning in English of our school. And we put forward solution to solve the problems.Through the English cooperative learning strategy, the students of cooperative learning class get better grades than the students of traditional teaching method class. They has greatly improved. Therefore, English Cooperative Learning strategy is feasible and effective for junior middle school students.
