Since World War II, many times of science curriculum reform has been carried out in America. It is a long time for American primary school science curriculum development, what’s more, this kind of development is becoming elaborate step by step. When we use the experiences of American primary school science curriculum for reference, we usually study its objectives, standard, content, textbook and implementation of science course from the technical level. Then put forward some constructive suggestions on this basis. However, only few researchers analyze the American primary school science curriculum from the aspects of cultural vision. Therefore, we try looking the American primary school science curriculum as an independent culture and cognizing the characteristics, based on the thinking pattern of curriculum culture, from the perspective of both static and dynamic. We look forward to providing deeply inspiration for our current primary school science curriculum reform.This study conducts the research mainly from the following four aspects:First, we made a historical investigation through the science curriculum content about the American primary school science curriculum after World War II. We divide its vicissitude history into structured period, lifestyle period, fundamental period, integrated period. What’s more, we summarized the characteristics of American primary school science curriculum culture.Second, analyze the contents of American primary school science curriculum from the static perspective, including the establishment of science curriculum objectives, the selection and organization of the science curriculum contents, summarized the cultural characteristics of American primary school science curriculum contents.Third, analyze the conduction of the American primary school science curriculum from the dynamic view. We brought a specific science lesson as the example to research the conduction and evaluation of the science curriculum, summarized the cultural characteristics of American primary school science curriculum conduction.Finally, provide suggestions for the improvement of our primary school science curriculum in China. Mainly combined with the influence of our traditional culture, the suggestions relate to science curriculum objectives, science curriculum resources, science curriculum evaluation and student status.
