Equipped with the theory of metacognition and the design principles of Job Aids,the writer designs and develops some job aids based on real learning tasks. The subjects of thisstudy are freshmen (Class of2012) whose major is Educational Technology in ShanghaiInternational Studies University. By means of quasi-experiment, the subjects use job aids tosupport their learning tasks. After one semester, the writer collects subjects’ papers, reports, PPTand so on, do content analysis and interview. Below are the conclusions of this study:(1) thesubjects consider job aids as a kind of learning tool, and it helps them to improve learningperformance;(2) meanwhile, they have realized its effective and efficient to improve learningperformance, and use it on their own initiative;(3) according to the content of job aids, thesubjects monitor and evaluate learning process and result actively;(4) combined job aids withprior knowledge about metacognitive, they try to look for favorite way to finish schoolwork;(4)under the guidance of job aids, the subjects finish their learning tasks effectively. Job aids makethe content and method more directly.
