Entering into the21st century, China is undergoing a phase with economic transition, sustainable social progress and rapid devopment of urbanization. Duiring the year of2000and2010, the proportion of urban population in China increased from36.22%in2000to49.95%in2010and the pattern of urban and rural population has greatly been changed. Meanwhile, the floating population has been increasingly more active. The sixth population census showed that the floating population in China reached260million people which was an increase of80.71%compared with the fifth census in2000, and of which inter-provincial floating population doubled and the expanding speed of inter-provincial floating population was faster than that of intra-provincial floating population. The rise of floating population, on the one hand, can directly increase the inflow of labor supply and promote the economic development of the inflow regions; on the other hand, since the floating population is from rural areas, their throng to urban areas will affect the development of the rural economy. In terms of the inflow areas, the phenomenon will bring about pressure on local housing, health care and other social and public services. In addition, due to the instability of the floating population, it will also have a certain impact on social administration. The floating population will play an increasingly important role in every aspect of economic and social development due to its long distance migration and rapid increase. At present, China attaches great importance to the construction of urbanization. Therefore, how to effectively lead the direction of inflow and outflow of the floating population, manage those population and strengthen the population development planning which is the basis of urbanization development become extremely important. For those reasons mentioned above, the thesis makes an analysis of the demographic characteristics of the inter-provincial mobile population and its regional distribution features duiring the process of urbanization, and explores the status quo of mobile population in current China, from the perspective of macroanalysis and mainly based on the. sixth population census data. The thesis also compares and analyzes the data with the fifth population census data and finds the change of inter-provincial floating population. Finally, I test the relationship between the inter-provincial mobile populatin and the level of urbanization with the methods of correlation coefficient and regression analysis.
