Internet addiction refers to a chronic of periodic state of addiction, which is caused by repeated internet use and brings a desire for reuse that is unable to resist. The main features of the internet addiction are reflected by seven aspects, tolerance is enhanced, withdrawal symptom appears, the actual time online is longer than that planned in advance, trying to shorten time online is not successful, much time is spent on the internet, surfing the internet has impacts on real life, surfing is kept the internet on the premise that the harm of network has been known. Middle school students, who are the most worrying netizens, account for a large proportion of Chinese netizens. On the one hand, they learn network technique; on the other hand, they are a group that tends to suffer the internet addiction. Therefore, researches on middle school students’internet use, especially their internet addiction, are of important significance.This thesis independently compiles A Questionnaire for Middle School Students’ Use of Network whose coefficient of internal consistency is0.857. In detail, it is composed of four scales which are shown as follows, respectively, i.e., the questionnaire for internet addiction, whose coefficient of internal consistency is0.873; the questionnaire for middle school students’internet use behaviors, whose coefficient of internal consistency is0.598; the questionnaire for middle school students’network characteristics and preference, whose coefficient of internal consistency is0.780; and the questionnaire for middle school students’self-monitoring level in the aspect of network, whose coefficient of internal consistency is0.191. Four middle schools in Dalian City, Liaoning Province and Xining City, Qinghai Province are selected randomly. In all,1,264questionnaires are issued and1,143effective ones are retrieved, with a recovery rate of0.42%and including390questionnaires from Grade1,365questionnaires from Grade2and388questionnaires from Grade3. SPSS16.0is used to carry out data statistics in four aspects, i.e.,1.general situation about middle school students’ internet use,2.statistics about the status survey for middle school students’ internet addiction,3.the difference comparison between middle school students’ internet addiction and non-internet addiction, and4. the regression analysis which has predictive effects on middle school students’ internet addiction. According to the analysis of statistical data, it is shown that middle school students’ internet addiction has five features, which are shown as follows.1. The probability of middle school students’ internet addiction is7.52%, so the problem is worth paying much attention.2. There is obvious difference in gender and grade for middle school students’ internet addiction, i.e., the rate of boys’ internet addiction is higher that that of girls, and the ratio of the internet addiction in Grade3is the highest.3. The ratio of the internet addiction of middle school students who had surfed the internet for4or more than4years is the highest.4. Middle school students with internet addiction prefer to the nature that the internet can escape from the reality.5. The level of middle school students’self-monitoring can predict their internet addiction and the self-monitoring level of middle school students with internet addiction is the lowest. At last, this thesis proposes educational suggestions to solve middle school students’ internet addiction:1. pay attention to middle school students’ subjective appeals in the development process of adolescence and focus on cultivating their self-monitoring ability to use the internet;2.remit the pressure that middle school students face effective and provide supportive environment for their growth; and3.pay special attention to the group that tends to have internet addiction.
