Nowadays, as the new curriculum standard is being firmly carried out, how t o realize the return of student-based education, how to stimulate students’ learning interest and how to improve the quality of classroom teaching becomes a new is sue that every educator faces. In senior math teaching, due to the limit of traditio nal teaching methods, more students meet with learning barrier, making both teach ers and students embarrassed, and there is little general improvement in the teachi ng quality. Being a new means of teaching, math experiment is introduced into se nior math teaching, thus injecting a driving force for the new curriculum standard reform in math. Geometry sketchpad software has become another experiment pla tform based on the popularity of computer hardware. This essay displays a primar y research from the theory of math experiment to experimental practice related to geometry sketchpad. By analyzing the advantages of math experiment teaching o ver traditional math teaching, we can prove that math experiment teaching improv es the students’learning effect, and demonstrate that senior math experiment teach ing based on geometry sketchpad is scientific and efficient. It is also feasible und er the present condition. So I think we should popularize and promote geometry s ketchpad.This essay studies the content of senior math experiment teaching based on g eometry sketchpad in the following aspects:1. It is a developing tendency for the senior schools to carry out math exper iment because it is a sign of modern education mode. It is also a must for the n ew curriculum reform as well as a way out for teachers and students to get rid o f the present dilemma of teaching and learning.2. By analyzing the characteristics of senior math, we find that the best meth od to explore senior math experiments is to make use of computer technology an d employ proper software—geometry sketchpad—to carry out math experiments. By studying the properties and characteristics of geometry sketchpad software, thi s essay discusses the necessity and feasibility of applying geometry sketchpad to s enior math experiment teaching.3. This essay explores design theory of math experiments combining senior math teaching practice, including the basic principles, teaching aims, experiment m ode and type of senior math experiments.4. By analyzing the effect of applying geometry sketchpad platform to math experiments, this essay concludes the experiment research.(1) There are many di fficulties in realizing math experiments in schools, but this new teaching mode ha s a powerful vitality. It can allow students to conduct experiments by themselves, to observe the process and phenomena, to analyze conditions and causes and to find law and nature. Teachers no longer rack their brains to describe abstract mat h knowledge using language. This new teaching mode frees both students and tea chers.(2) This essay explores and conceives how to break the routine in order t o popularize math experiments in senior schools, aiming at illustrating the motivat ional role it plays in senior math teaching as well as in the cultivation of student s’ interest, knowledge and ability.(3) This essay summarizes some problems w hich are relevant to applying geometry sketchpad platform to senior math experim ents and which need to continue to be studied.
