As a new type of Internet applications, Microblog develops rapidly in our country. By theend of June in2013, the proportion of Microblog users in Chinese Internet users has reached to56.0%, and the students have been the largest occupational groups of Microblog users. Theinfiltration of soft power contained by Microblog can’t be ignored, it has been a main front inwhich a variety of ideological culture and values influence each other. Microblog with itspowerful functions has a profound impact on students’ behavior and ideas, and also has broughtopportunities and challenges to ideological and political education from the content, form,educators, the educated, environment, etc. of college and university’s ideological and politicaleducation.More and more colleges and universities have Microblogs and begin to pay close attentionto the the application value of Microblog about ideological and political education, and it hasbeen applied to college and university’s ideological and political education. From the papersample survey about the basics of college and university’s students using Microblgs and theinternet survey about the basics of colleges and universities carrying out ideological and politicaleducation, we know that there are many problems about the Microblog applied to college anduniversity’s ideological and political education. The main problems are that Microblogs releasedvery single contents about ideological and political education, ignoring the concerns of students,positioning was not clear, the function of ideological and political education was not prominent,lack of effective interaction with students.The reasons responsible for these problems are that the"micro concept" of colleges and universities was weak, and they didn’t attach enough importanceto the Microblog applied to ideological and political education, poor management, and publicitycoverage does not reach the designated position, workforce is not perfect, and the lack ofrelevant microblog operation experience.In view of the countermeasures for the main problems, colleges and universities can drawlessons from others which had achieved good results about Microblogs applied to ideological andpolitical education, such as Mission Central School, Chongqing University, etc. Colleges anduniversities should improve the "micro-consciousness" and strengthen the "micro-actions", builda new platform about ideological and political education. Increase the construction aboutmicroblog public opinion base, control public opinion, strengthen content construction, andcultivate the microblog opinion leaders. Strengthen the work of team building, enhance theircapabilities of microblog management and operations. Finally, establish a good and orderlymicroblog management and operating system of ideological and political education to guaranteethe ideological and political education of Microblog to be operated well, carry out better andeffective ideological and political education of colleges and universities.
