Kyrgyz people, named as’nomadic people’, is not only an ancient group whose history dates back to201BC, but also an amazing creator who creates splendid civilization and special cultures. According to the historical sources, Kyrgyz people of China used to live in the upper Yenisey River valley and then moved to China, mainly concentrating in the South and North areas of Tianshan Mountain. The majority of Kyrgyz people are living in Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture in the southwestern part of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, while others are in Ili, Tekes, Taxkorgan, Wushi (Uqturpan) of Xinjiang and Fuyu County of Heilongjiang Province.Cork Yar Kirgiz Township, Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, was established in September,1985and dominated two ethnic villages named Cork Yar and Xie er nai pu village, accommodating1047people. Out of Tajik and Han people, Kyrgyz people accounts for90%population. Compared with others, Kyrgyz people scattered in this area have made great efforts to inherit and spread their traditions. Simultaneously, they also absorbed excellent cultures from others.After the establishment of People’s Republic of China, particularly the implementing Western Development policy, great changes and remarkable achievements have been made in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In this background, Kyrgyz people demonstrate much more multiple cultures and that contributes to more ways of understanding Chinese cultures’characteristics, Diversity and Unity.Fieldworks were mainly arranged and conducted in Cork Yar Kirgiz Township of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County. All the works, like firs-hand materials through doing surveys, official data on the local ecological environment, economy and society, education, health etc., and Ethnographic methodology, are used to interpret traditions, developments and changes of Kyrgyz people’s cultures.There are five parts in this paper. In the first part, the author introduces the basic purpose, research subject and main methods. In addition, research review concerning documents and theories of cultural change is also be researched in this part. Secondly, the author describes the backgrounds of two fieldwork sites in details from the aspects of Geography and social cultures. Most importantly, in the next part, ethnographic research on Kyrgyz people’s livelihoods, marriage and family, basic necessities, education and health has been conducted, in order to show the local cultural characteristics and lay foundation for further analysis. In the fourth part, the author analyzes the features of and reasons for social and cultural changes in the fieldwork sites. Finally, conclusion is made with careful consideration and the author believes that it is hard to avoid the changes of cultures. Consequently, what we are supposed to advocate is paying tight attention to sustainable development of culture on the basis of maintaining traditional cultures.Changes would take place in any ethnic communities in accordance with the development of society. China is now in the process of social transformation during which the high speed of cultural communication and information propagation exert great influences on and supply more chances to the development of Kyrgyz people.
