Coser social conflict theory is an important part among the whole conflict theory. The theory he created not only enrich the conflict areas of research, but also play an important role. Then, Coser become one of the best famous conflict theorists. It has high academic significance to study the object of study, research methods and practices about Coser’s social conflict theory.In this paper, we took coser’s conflict theory for interpretation and discussion that involves the theory development context, theoretical Pursuit and conflict function by philosophical perspectives. Coser’s conflict theory further revealed the formation process of structural functionalism and conflict theory of dialectical critique and inheritance relationships. And further clearly explained this phenomenon of social conflict in a more comprehensive theoretical level cognition.Coser took the conflict which is one of the human interaction forms in daily life as an object for researching. And Coser took the positive effects of conflict as a research key point. In this paper it was been made a detailed collation that he explain his position about conflict behavior how to work between person to person, person to community and community to community under his social conflict theory. Meanwhile he also described the conflict behavior how to affect the social structure and the relation among communities. What’s more, he introduced the relief valve system which be used to control conflict. As the same time, this paper made a overall evaluation about his theory and pointed that the theory has promoted the development of sociological theory, and on the other hand it has a narrow range and not concerned the negative effects of conflict which may caused the sidedness problem.
