With the development of our society, the higher education has changed rapidly,providing higher requirement for the development of teacher. Especially under thebackground of higher education popularization, the development of professionalteacher makes the value of being a teacher more prominent. Most of Non-PubliclyFunded universities in China were established after the period of reform and openingup, which are in a good situation of development. As an important part of highereducation, Non-Publicly Funded universities drive concerns of the community.However, the research for them is insufficient. In particular, in the area of teacher’sprofessional development of Non-Publicly Funded institutions is almost empty.Firstly, the concept of professional development of teacher is provided in thispaper and it is structure and content are summarized. The necessity and feasibility ofprofessional development of teachers in Non-Publicly Funded colleges are proposedfrom the angle of Government, society and Non-Publicly Funded colleges anduniversities themselves. During the process of conducting Non-Publicly Fundedcolleges, problems and shortcomings are exposed in terms of teachers and theirprofessional development. Therefore, the internal and external reasons and originsconcerning Professional development of teachers in Non-Publicly Funded collegesare discussed in this paper.In order to get rid of the dilemma of teacher professional development ofNon-Publicly Funded colleges, the external environment and internal factors shouldbe taken into consideration. Concerning the external environment, the impact suchas policy, laws and regulations, school system and training should be taken intoaccount. In terms of internal factors, teachers should establish the concept of lifelongterm learning and take the initiative. It is a good idea to design career plan which issuitable for them. In addition, teacher and college should be work together to finish teacher’s professional development, so it is very important to deal with relationbetween the development direction of college and teacher professional development.
