Taijiquan is one of the excellent representatives of Chinese martial arts and sports culture. It iswell received in China and abroad because of the philosophical concepts and the healthbenefits contained in it. However, taijiquan is a very profound regimen and human movementscience system and needs to be explored further and presented to the world.There are always some debates on taijiquan’s origination. In this paper, I am going to studyAncient Quanpu Taijiquan, or named Xiaojiutian Taijiquan(usually called TraditionalTaijiquan by the Chinese martial arts field) because it is one of the very unique schools oftaijiquan culture.[quanpu: a special term refers to the guide book of one certain martial artsroutine.]According to the records of ancient quanpu, xiaojiutian taijiquan was originated from HanGongyue and Cheng Lingxi, two martial arts masters in the Northern and Southern Dynasties.Five hundred years later, one of the inheritor Cheng Bi in Song Dynasty began to name theroutine exercise “taiji-xiaojiutian” or “taiji-xiantianfa.” Since then, the martial arts routine hadbeen transmitted and recorded systematically among the populace. In Republican Period, apopular book Study on the Origination and Schools of Taijiquan of Song Family had manycommons with the inherited taiji-xiaojiutian. Started with the analysis of xiaojiutian regimentheory (the core of the ancient quanpu taijiquan system), I will study the ancient quanputaijiquan system in depth and explore the rich cultural connotations and scientific elements init.Based on collected materials, literature reviews, experts’ interviews, skill analysis, and manyother researches, I have come to the following conclusions in the paper:1.xiaojiutian is an integrated system. Therefore, the studies on xiaojiutian have significantmeanings in the systematic and deepen researches of Chinese taijiquan culture and itsworldwide transmission.2.xiaojiutian includes characteristic operations on channels and collaterals, and acupuncturepoint. It is a very good reference to the research of human body science in traditional Chinesemedicine.3.xiaojiutian has rich and profound connotation on the traditional regimen culture and humanbody science. It has potential application in the promotion of extensive mass fitness programs. 4.the studies on xiaojiutian also provide a new perspective for the research on the attack anddefense state and philosophical state of taijiquan.
