Social anxiety refers to the intense anxiety, tension and fear reaction and avoidancebehavior in interpersonal situations. Those who are social anxious fear to have eye contactwith others, be looked at by others, be shamed with self behaviors and eat or write in front ofothers. They feel tension and fear in interpersonal situations. When looked at by others, theyare anxious with their self behaviors.Social skills refers to those learned behaviors that are accepted by the society, which canhelp people to communicate with others effectively. It is very important to study therelationship between social anxiety and social skills which benefits both theory and practice.Cognitive disorder leads people to have a negative attitude towards themselves, thesurrounding world and future, and then motivates depressive symptoms. People who havesocial anxiety did not lack of social skills, they only think they are anxious in social situations.Thus, in order to reduce social anxiety, we had better change the negative cognition instead ofrelying on social skills training only.We use questionnaire method, and select372Chinese university students randomly. Weuse the Social Anxiety Inventory for Chinese College Students, the Chinese UniversityStudents Social Skill Inventory and the Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale as the research tools.We use SPSS16.0to analysis the characteristics of social anxiety, social skills and cognitivedisorder as well as the mediators and moderators in the relationship between social anxietyand social skills. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The students who live in the city have more social confidence than those who live in thecountry; They have more social skills and enjoy more in social activities. Men have morecognitive disorder than women; the freshmen have less cognitive disorder than students inother grades.(2)Social skills has negative correlation with social anxiety. The lower social skills are, thehigher social anxiety is; (3)Social skills has negative correlation with cognitive disorder. The higher social skills are,the lower cognitive disorder is;(4)Cognitive disorder has positive correlation with social anxiety. The higher cognitivedisorder is, the higher social anxiety is;(5)Social skills influence social anxiety through cognitive disorder.
