| Since the group appeared from1980s, it is a hotspot for academic research. A lot of experts and scholars did thorough research on the economically disadvantaged students as well as the related assistance system in terms of economy, society, and psychology, etc, causing considerable academic achievements. From continuous exploration of theory and practice, there is a systematic model coming out, which combines award, loan, aid, compensate and cut down together. However, after reviewing the assistance system and these research results, it is notable that these almost only focus on the economic perspective, and pay less attention on other possible sides.This article is different from previous studies, considering from fresh theory analysis, author explored a new idea on economically disadvantaged student’s assistance based on the capability approach of Amartya Sen. As an emerging theory, the capability approach has been flourishing. Sen believed that the essence of poverty is deprived of capability, not only the low income.Therefore, Sen’s research broke the inherent perspective of economically disadvantaged student’s assistance, and had broad view evaluating poverty. This article attempts to combine capability approach with economically disadvantaged student’s assistance, therefore extending the research area.The framework of this article is capability approach. Although Sen was unable to give a full list of capability, the five instrumental free he pointed out are the milestones of survey. The research uses quantitative analysis method, supplemented with qualitative analysis. It mainly based on the result from the research of economically disadvantaged students in Beijing,and learn the effect of demographic variables to each dimension of economically disadvantaged student’s capability,then we can compare the result with the normal students. We can learn the phenomena what their basic capability are deprived of from the survey data and further provide recommendations. |
