PE thought is people’s understanding of PE essence and laws, and it is the product of thesociety, politics, economy and education under a certain historical condition. ProfessorHavilland from University of Vermont wrote in the1984edition of the ContemporaryAnthropology:"Thought is not visible, and it is the value and faith that people use to explainexperience and lead behavior, by which the value and faith are reflected.” The formation anddevelopment of oriental and western PE thoughts have similar social background, also havedifferent manifestations. Crossing the time and space, to compare the PE thoughts betweenoriental sage Confucius and western science pioneer Aristotel is helpful to understand thehistory of oriental and western PE thoughts, and also it is necessary for the development ofPE thoughts. There are plenty of differences of the PE thoughts developed under differentpolitical, economic and cultural backgrounds, but the different PE thoughts are bound to havea lot of things in common. Besides, only by comparing the PE thoughts between Confuciusand Aristotel can we find the development law of PE thought, learn from each other in mutualemulation, and obtain the inspiration which is beneficial for the PE development in China.Gradual development and perfection of PE thought is its inevitable choice, and one of theimportant measures to finish this choice is researching famous people’s PE thoughts, so themain task of the comparative study of the PE thoughts of Confucius and Aristotle is tosummarize the development logic of PE thoughts in sages’ thoughts from the numeroussporadic, scattered and disordered experiential knowledge and theoretical knowledge, build acomplete PE thought theoretical system and offer a reasonable concept for the final “explainand exceed the direct PE thought experience”. Thus, based on the four aspects of time andenvironment, object and content, method and theory, purpose and target, the author comparesthe PE thoughts of Confucius and Aristotle.“Moral and benevolence” is the core concept of Confucius’ PE thought, and “ScientificEvidence theory” is the theoretical base for Aristotle’s PE thought. Both their PE thoughtshave different focuses, regarding the development cognition of modern PE though.“Harmonious Creation Theory” is the key point of the integration of their PE thoughts. Theintegration of the “Harmonious Creation Theory” is very beneficial for the modern PEthought, mainly in the following four aspects: beneficial for the abundance of the PE thought;beneficial for the communication of the PE thought; beneficial for the development of PE thought; beneficial for the construction of PE thought system.By comparing the PE thoughts of Confucius and Aristotle, there comes the conclusionthat comparing and communicating the two culturally representative PE thoughts, is not onlya crash of morality and sense, but also a fusion of culture and science. Based on thedevelopment of modern PE thought and according to the inspiration of Confucius andAristotle PE thought to modern society, there is four suggestions:1st, highlight the influenceand value of PE;2nd, emphasize the development of basic PE subject,3rd, emphasize thecultivation of PE moral idea;4th, cultivate the habit of lifelong physical exercise. The foursuggestions are the result of the integration of the PE thoughts of Confucius and Aristotle.
