The maternity insurance system indicates that the fertility behaviorundertaker is due to be given the income compensation, medical serviceand maternity leave during the course of the reproductive events. Theestablishment of the maternity insurance system is the basic necessity oflife for female laborers during the fertility time and the importantguarantee to maintain the social stability and unity. The maternityinsurance system was established in1951in China, so far, constantlyreformation happened to the system, but some problems still exist, whichis the primary cause to choose the “Research of the maternity insurancein China” as the topic for the paper. The paper will analyze shortage ofthe existing maternity insurance system in China through the theoreticalanalysis and comparative research, the comparison of the domestic andthe international maternity insurance system, learning from the advancedexperience of foreign countries and trying to offer some reasonablesuggestions in order to improve the maternity insurance system in ourcountry.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part discussed the basic theory of the maternity insurancesystem, including the concept and features of maternity insurance, thecomparison of the adjacent concept, significance and function ofmaternity insurance, also to discuss the concept, the causes, the main content and historical evolution of maternity insurance system, to providethe theoretical basis for the research of our maternity insurance system.The second part describes the comparison and analysis of thematernity insurance system in some countries around the world, such asthe maternity insurance legislation in these countries, to provide theadvanced experience for the development of our maternity insurancesystem.The third part analyzes current situation of our maternity insurancesystem, which introduces the status of development, analyzes theproblems,and find a breakout to improve the maternity insurance systemin China.The fourth part is improvement of the maternity insurance systemin China. The part of maternity insurance system in the Social InsuranceLaw has been amended, which has tried to provide suggestions for thematernity insurance scheme (draft) and recommended to enact maternityinsurance regulations, in order to implement the maternity insurance laws.
