Mathematical writing is for inspection of middle school students’ mathematical language, mathematical thought methods, mathematical learning behavior and habits,which is a comprehensive display of students’mathematics learning situation. Mathematical writing is the requirement of the New Curriculum Standards and the Quality Education, which can help to improve mathematical literacy, and is also an important part of learning evaluation. In the actual mathematics teaching, students have knowledge and behavioral deviation in mathematics writing.In the College Entrance Examination of Mathematics, students’written expression is not fluent and disorganized.After the nearly500middle school students’questionnaires and some students’interview, summarized the situation then as follow:their mathematical writing is procrastinated, inattentive and heavily dependent on others’help. Teachers have a lack of analysis and solutions about the individual student’s mathematical writing errors and evaluation of their writing progress, however students hope to get praise from teachers. While teachers didn’t have specific guidance or their guidance effect is poor. Students’answer couldn’t be simple and smooth, rigorous and normative, the understanding and master of mathematical thought methods is not enough,drawing with their bare hands without straightedge and compasses, scrawl optionally,ect.And extracted the following optimization strategy from study, exercitation and teaching practice:correct middle school students’ mathematical writing attitude from mathematics, mathematics learning and mathematics writing. Develop good mathematical writing habits. Clear mathematical writing requirements. Strengthen the teaching of mathematical thought methods. Improve the mathematical writing evaluation from the following three aspects:changing the evaluation of subject and visual angle, strengthening the longitudinal evaluation. Finally summarized the punctuation requirements and the basic format of some mathematical thought methods in the middle school mathematical writing.
