As an important part of the first language curriculum,writing should be embodied by the language textbook.In order to figure out how the materials about writing are organized in the first language textbook,this artical will focus on the compilation of writing materials in the two sets of textbook: one is the Chinese textbook from our country,the other one is the English textbook from America.The target of this comparative study is to find out the good points and short comings of Chinese textbook. In the meantime it will summarize some good experience of the American language text book to provide reference for improving our Chinese textbook.But the reference is not going be that simple.It should be based on the real conditions of china.Otherwise it will not achieve the expected results.There are three chapters in this article except the introduction and the concluding part.The first chapter does some analysis on the writing part of the two sets of textbook separately from the macroscopic angle and the micro angle,and some characteristics of the two textbook are summarized and compared.The second chapter discusses how to assess the textbook properly, and then explores a few good points and problems existing in the writing part of the two sets of textbook.The third chapter emphasizes that we should remain rational when we are drawing lessons from the successful experience abroad to improve our writing textbook,and it points out that we’d better creat independent diversified writing textbooks based on present conditions and local characteristics.
