High school geography textbook is the main tool for students to learn geography. The high school curriculum is divided into compulsory and elective modules according to the new curriculum reform. The adding of elective modules gives high school geography textbooks diversification and meets the needs of different students, which is fit for the new course standard. Elective course 5 "Natural disaster and prevention" studies the effect of main natural disaster in our country, comprehends the relation between natural disasters and environmental, establishes a sense of disaster prevention and mitigation. To some extend, it has a realistic significance on cultivating the ability of disaster prevention and reduction. On the paper, I choose People’s education press and Sinomaps press of elective 5 textbook as the object of study, which also combined the high school geography curriculum standard with constructivist learning theory, cognitive learning theory and the system theory. Through the comparison of course content and curriculum standards and a comparative study of three layer system, I finally draw the similarities and differences between the two sets of textbooks as conclusions. I also put forward some relevant suggestions for the conclusion which I think can provide the reference for the revision of the teaching materials and teachers’ teaching.
