The21st century is an age that talents are urgently needed. The junior high school’sultimate goal is whether it can cultivate high-quality innovative talents to meet the demandsof the era. Personality education is to cultivate and develop the students’ positive personalitytraits, such as interests、independence and sense of social responsibility and to promote everystudent’ s potential and advantages development. Its main ideas are to focus on the students’potential, develop students’ personality, cultivate students’ innovation, promote the students’all-round development and enhance the comprehensive quality of the students and so on.These ideas conform to the era’s requirements, but the situation of the personality educationin practice is awkward. The research based on the defining of the concepts of personality andpositive personality trait surveyed the present education situation in the junior high schools bymeans of literature method and interview method and then analyzed the reasons for theabsence of personality education and proposed related resolutions. The paper is divided intofive parts:The first part is the introduction. It mainly describes the reasons for choosing this topic,the research significance, sorts out literature reviews home and abroad, defines the coreconcepts and proposes research methods.The second part introduces the theoretical basis, value orientation and the basiccharacteristics of the personality education. First of all, the study discusses the theoreticalbasis of the personality education, including philosophy, education, psychology andmanagement. In addition, the study points to value orientation of personality education. I tmainly concludes four aspects: discover and respect students’ personality, develop students’potential and advantages, cultivate the students’ positive personality traits and promote thesustainable development of the students. Finally, the study put forward personality educationis a kind of permeability education, discussing from explicit aspect and implicit aspect tocarry out personality education respectively.The third part is about the absence of personality education in junior high school.Through interviewing with teachers and headmasters of junior high school, the paper came tounderstand the current education of junior high school and summarized the content of theinterview, it is concluded that personality education is in a state of absence. It shows twoaspects: On the one hand, the function of education is lost. On the other hand, the significanceof the personality education is concealed. The fourth part analyzes the causes of the absence of personality education. Main factorsinclude traditional culture, teachers, the negative influence of the exams and so on.The fifth part summarizes countermeasures to construct personality education in juniorhigh school. Combining the causes of the absence of the personality education, strategies areproposed mainly from three respects, namely, schools, teachers and students.
