Research On Contemporary College Students' Patriotism Education

Patriotism is not only a sacred emotion, but also a noble ideals and practice, as animportant part of the Chinese nation and core spirit of the socialist value system,patriotism always unites Chinese nation together and brings inexhaustible spiritual bondpower. It guides generations of the Chinese people, inspires them to overcomedifficulties on their way realizing our nation’s prosperity. The young generation ofcollege students is the backbone of social progress, the quality of their patrioticbehavior directly affects China’s future development. In the new era of globalization,our college students’ patriotic education is influenced by many factors from bothnational and international. Besides, endless new problems also reflect the lack ofpatriotic education in our colleges and universities.After World War II, South Korea seizes the opportunity to develop its economy injust a few decades，rapidly grows to be a new star and role model for developingcountries. With its unique way of education, South Korea trains batches of prominentand loyal talents who promote their country’s economic takeoff. The1998’s SeoulOlympics show the whole world “The ‘Republic of Korea’spirit” and impressed us withits national character: unity, sincerity, enthusiasm, dedication. In recent years, since the"K-POP" and Korean Food’s wide spread, South Korea’s culture gains great popularityamong the world, especially the young generation. Through friendly cultural exchangeswith South Korea, we figure out many considerable and valuable experiences about itspatriotism education.This paper is divided into four parts: firstly, elaborate the conceptual interpretationof patriotism, combined with the contemporary themes of social development, givingnew meaning to patriotism and strengthen the importance of enhancing college students’patriotism education. The second part focuses on the qualified characteristics of SouthKorea’s patriotism education, also points out that we are multi-ethnic country, whichdifferent from them. The third part is based on first-hand information of questionnaireabout our contemporary college students’ patriotic emotion and behavior, analyzing thecurrent status and causes of China’s college students’ patriotism education. The fourthpart tries to figure out the actual physical and mental development of our college students by drawing shines South Korea patriotism education under the new era, do thebest to innovate and improve the content, principles, environment, carrier and route ofChine college students’patriotism education.
