Research On Sports Spirit Of National Southwest Associated University

The National South-west Associated University (NSAU) is known as themiracle in history of Chinese education in the world-wild， also as a landmark ofChina physical education.The author will analyze and summarize NSAU Sports Spirit by using themethod of literature and expert interview, collecting historical materials. The studyincludes four chapters. Chapter one, prolegomena, will introduce the origin of thestudy, the basis of selecting this theme, the theory and in reality significance of thestudy; Chapter two, introduces the targets of the research, key points and themethods of the study. Chapter three discusses the NSAU Spirit and the sports spiritof headmaster and celebrity thoughts in details. On the base of studying historicalmaterials, the paper summarize the NSAU Spirit as ethical spirit, teachers’ code ofmorality, and rationalism. Conclusions are as follows.1. The premise of NSAU Spirit is from many factors’ conflicts and blending:the spread of western sports spirit and politics, economy, culture in NationalGovernment Period, especially Japan’s war of aggression against China.2. NSAU Sports Spirit learns from advanced concepts of western physicaleducation, and respects the China tradition. Meanwhile it refers to the world andnational physical education. NSAU Sports Spirit, which can divide into forms andcontent, has the orientation to knowledge and morality.3. NSAU Sports Spirit is expressed by three great educators, Mei Yiqi, ZhangBoling, John Ma. Their sports thoughts reflect NSAU Sports Spirit deeply.4. NSAU Sports Spirit consists of three parts: Ethical spirit; Teachers’ morality;Rationalism. Ethical spirit covers patriotism and united. Teachers’ morality are thepursuit of excellence and noble behavior. Rationalism includes sense andself-reliance.5. NSAU Spirit has profound implications for Yunnan undertakings of physicalculture and sports. The activities and spirits in NASU are inspiration for the modern school sports.
