The research of China’s college teaching culture under the new period is carried out on the base that traditional teaching tradition cannot meet the needs of the development of college teaching. As the new teaching culture has not come into being, the major problem confronted to college teaching is how to construct appropriate teaching culture to adjust to the development of college teaching. As a result, appropriate teaching culture should be conducted upon current culture view, current teaching view as well as current development value to meet the needs of teaching activities.Along with the popularization of higher education, colleges has gradually become the center of social life. Establishing modern scientific college teaching culture has become the urgent demand of social development. College teaching culture refers particularly to culture between teacher and students, culture that have an impact on teaching beyond education category. It is the guide of college teaching, and the teachers and students’reflection of teaching value, teaching idea, teaching activities and so on from a long term perspective. University teaching refers to activities only to educatee, whose fundamental objective is to meet the needs of human being.Under the background of development and reform, teaching culture should keep up with times, with social’s development and thus it is important to explore practical approaches suitable for China’s college teaching development.The first chapter of this paper introduces the research background and explains the importance of college culture study. The purpose and significance of it are also illustrated. The current situation of college teaching culture home and abroad is also under discussion as to determine research method and approach.The second chapter is an overview of college teaching culture. The concept of culture, education culture and teaching culture are elaborated to get a better idea of college teaching culture on the whole. Analysis of the features of college teaching culture can provide a profound understanding of connotation of college teaching culture. The subject of college teaching culture is also introduced to strengthen people’s responsibility. The basic constituents, function and theoretical basis of college teaching culture laid the foundation of the construction of college teaching culture study.The third chapter presented the significance of college teaching culture construction. Firstly, college teaching culture can reflect the mission of universities, that is the cultivation of qualified students, scientific study, social service, culture inheritage and innovation. Secondly, college teaching culture is the core of college teaching culture construction. High-qualified teaching culture is of great importance to college teaching culture construction. Thirdly, college teaching culture is a brach of social culture construction that can drive it forward. For all the above, every university shall recognize the importance of college teaching culture construction and takes it as a significant program.The fourth chapter presents the current situation, problems and causes of college teaching culture. Colleges and universities has not paid enough attention on the construction of college teaching culture and researches on this topic is of small number. After referring to related document, we have the proof that several universities has started to construct college teaching culture. Undoubtingly, there are some disadvantages of college teaching culture construction, such as how to make up for shortcomings. There is a great need to find out the reasons and learn from it.The fifth chapter provides some principles and routines. In the process of people oriented college teaching culture construction, the contradiction between traditional teaching culture and current requirement is obvious. Profound traditional culture is the foundation of college teaching culture construction in new era. The heritage of teaching tradition can assist the promotion of Chinese culture. Besides, we can not hold a negative view towards foreign teaching culture or accept it as a whole. No matter we learn from traditions or foreigners, we should obey three principles:reform, innovation and promotion, to build modern college teaching culture and rebuild college spirits.
