Changing the way of geography learning is a major goal in New geography curriculum reform, namely changing mechanical memorizing and advocating students’ autonomous learning, cooperative learning, inquiry learning. But declarative knowledge require students to remember generally, this makes the new concepts of the new curriculum reform more difficult to carry out, therefore, most teachers teaching declarative knowledge still used in traditional instruction method and neglect the knowledge classification. Given these, this paper based on the classification of type of declarative knowledge and the key content is that different type of geographic declarative knowledge should take different teaching strategies. And it synthetically analyzes by means of two ways that are classroom observation and questionnaire which is helpful to analysis on teaching status of geographic declarative knowledge, besides, point out that different type of geographic declarative knowledge should take different Teaching strategies, what’s more, through empirical research to prove the feasibility and science, so as to offer a useful reference to senior high school geography teachers and elevating the relevance and effectiveness in the teaching practice. This paper consists of seven sections:Part one is an introduction:this section describes the background of the item and the signification of the research, and points out its research direction via combing the research status at home and abroad.Meanwhile, this part introduces the research plans through four aspects that are research contents, research methods, technical routes and the innovation of the paper.Part two is the awareness of the declarative knowledge. Through the concept of declarative knowledge and comparing the declarative knowledge and the procedural knowledge, defined the characteristics of the declarative knowledge, then set out the learning process of the declarative knowledge and influencing factors. Thus making bedding for geography declarative knowledge researchPart three is overview of geography declarative knowledge.Firstly, defined the concept of the geography declarative knowledge; secondly, summary the six species type of the geography declarative knowledge, that are geographic name and geographic symbol, geographic terminology, geographic data, geographic location and geographic distribution, geographic landscape, geographic process and geographic evolution; thirdly, summary four features through classification finishing geography declarative knowledge on textbook; lastly, describe the teaching theory based of the geography declarative knowledge. This section provides an theoretical foundations for further study later.Part four is about status analysis.Through classroom observation and questionnaire understand the overall situation of declarative knowledge teaching and the shortage of different types of declarative knowledge in the teaching. Which provide basis for the exploration of the teaching strategies.Part five is strategy and case design. As for different type of geography declarative knowledge, this section point out the different teaching policy and design the corresponding case, geographic name and geographic symbol’s teaching policy:created situational, taught told; geographic terminology’s teaching policy:appropriate inquiry, exercises consolidation; geographic data’s teaching policy:multiple coding, close to life; geographic location and geographic distribution’s teaching policy:activation map, appropriate guide; geographic landscape’s teaching policy:in-depth mining, integrated analysis; geographic process and geographic evolution’s teaching policy:reasonable expand, Refined with an overview.Part six is empirical research. Select two lessons that cover six types of geographic declarative knowledge, experiment classroom using the proposed teaching strategies, control classes using the traditional teaching method, by contrast, verify the feasibility and scientific of the proposed teaching strategies and provide the empirical foundation of the conclusions.Part seven is the summary of the basic conclusion, which point out the problems that exist during the process of research and thinks deeply for further research.
