An Analysis On Situation Materials Of American Mainstream Scientific Biology: The Dynamics Of Life

The main purpose of the biology curriculum reform is to improve students’s scientific literacy,to emphasis on interaction of community and science-technology,and to promote a diversity of learning based on scientific inquiry.It is the base point to select the experience and mental developmental level that students are familiar with and know from the content,which reflect the characteristics of the variety of biological disciplines and determine the learning content of exploratory experiments as well as expanding learning horizons and strengthening interest.Therefore,it is extremely important to design and use teaching materials.At present,the front line teachers lack of adequate situation materials due to various reasons at the domestic,while the domestic research on teaching situations is concentrated in the teaching methods and other aspects of problem situation for lack of the literature of studies on situational materials unilaterally. Over time,it will certainly affect the achievement of teaching aims which the new curriculum proposes.Therefore,we classify the situational materials of the American mainstream scientific biology textbook Biology:The Dynamics of Life and analyze the design ideas and features of situations by typical cases.The main conclusions:(1)Biology situations can be desighed with such columns as biology and society,biology and technology,biological related profession,links,scientific discovery and so on.lt is to stimulate students’interest of learning biology,to guide students to solve problems independently and to cultivate students how to internalize and migrate.(2)The design of biological situation should take reliability and completeness into account.The situation comprehensive refers to that the design must consider not only promoting the intellectual development of students’s knowledge,but also including the promotion of students’non-emotional and practive intellectual content.That is to say,students can construct a good cognitive structure,promote students’s overall development in psychological colonial and practive environment and so on. While the more realistic the situation is,the more firmly the students construct the knowledge and the more easily the students use in the practical situations,which can achieve teaching objectives.(3)The biology teaching situations can be classified to five:the natural situations,the experimental situations,the problem situations,the image situations,the scenario story situations according to the categories of knowledge carrier.Molecular and Cell modules can be increasely used with image situations and experimental situations.Students can understand and remember intuitively and vividly,which can help them overcome the difficulties in space imagination.Genetics and Evolution modules can be increasely used with story situations,which makes the boring single rational problems into a number of articles with small stories such as a story form about the discovery of Mendelian genetics stimulating students’s curiosity and achieving the best teaching results as well.Homeostasis and Enviroment modules can be increasely used with natural situations and story situations which help students contact the learning with the actual production of social life and stimulate students’s learning interet such as the Darwin’s theory of natural selection.The innovation of the paper is as following:firstly,it is the first study of situational materials on the American mainstream scientific biology textbook Biology:The Dynamics of Life at the domestic;secondly,it provides the guidance for biology teachers to use and create the biological situations.
